Attachment and Identity

Being human is hard, and our world doesn’t make it any easier. You might find that you:

  • Struggle with closeness and vulnerability

  • Have difficulty knowing or expressing what you want, feel, or need

  • Leave relationships earlier or later than you want

  • Struggle to voice and accept parts of yourself that have been devalued or never given room to flourish

  • Confront debilitating shame, guilt, or low self-worth

These experiences are all different sides of the same coin. What relationships are like for us, how we feel about ourselves, and how we’ve been treated in the world are all connected. For many, our environments and life histories have not given us the chance to slow down and put these pieces together for ourselves.

Therapy offers a space to zoom out and explore these interrelated dynamics. You can more deeply connect with yourself, gain clarity about how the world has impacted you, and pursue the kinds of intimacy and belonging that you wish to have in your life.
